Being loyal to a king is admirable, honorable, and it's the right thing to do. However, being loyal to a completely idiotic king is plaino stupid! This is the case of the Yang's family. There are so many versions of the Yang's series already, same concept just depict them stupidly loyal in different ways. Imagine being the wives of the Yangs, to see each man going away to serve the country and never coming back. In short, all the Yang's family members were heroes and heroines although they blindly support a weak and dumb king, what a waste of their talents and patriotism!
Lesson to learn here: Don't waste your loyalty and energy to a boss who does not appreciate or recognize your talents...
This series is a TVB anniversary special, so expect to see a star stud cast of veterans (Kenneth Tsang, Yeung Yak Lam, Donald Chow, Dodo Cheng, Gigi Lai, Lisa Wang, Alex Man, etc..), the Five Tigers (Felix, Miu, Andy, Tony and Kent) and the Golden Era's beauties such as Mimi Kung, Jamie Chic, Jie Linh, Margie, Yeung Pan Pan and Kathy Chow. The costumes are fabulous and colorful. In addition, the themesong by Leslie Cheung makes it even a better legend.
The Yang's Saga is not dragging (a little short instead). It is along enough to keep the adrenaline going, and it is quite a relief for the audience when it's over because I am not so sure how many more misfortune events that we can endure for the Yangs. The sons do create a vivid images in many female viewers who try to decide which one is their favorite (trust me, I used to do that years ago).
